Sound & Vision 2022: An Intimate Night in New York

The 2022 Sound & Vision of David Bowie show at The Cutting Room was something truly special — my husband Jay joined me this time, making it a rare and intimate evening just for the two of us. It was still the tail end of Covid, so you’ll see us masked in most of the photos, but that didn’t stop the magic from shining through. Outside in the cold I met new Bowie friends, including Molly from Cambridge, and Christina, who ended up sharing our table.

One of the most moving moments came when Gail Ann Dorsey sang Lazarus — Jay, always thoughtful, had tissues ready and quietly handed them to me from behind. This year also held a unique surprise: actor and musician Michael C. Hall joined the ensemble, bringing another layer of artistry to an already unforgettable show. Beyond the music, we packed in some New York favorites: the Banksy exhibit, the best pizza at John’s of Bleecker, a stop at the legendary Stonewall Inn, and a stroll through Washington Square Park. I also made a final stop at the Bowie Pop-Up Shop — one last chance to soak in that treasure trove before it was gone. A night of Bowie, art, history, and love — it doesn’t get more special than that.
